Sono state svelate le nomine della 40esima edizione dei Film Independent Spirit Awards, in testa Anora e Shōgun.
Il Film Independent Spirit Awards, come riportato da AwardsWatch, ha svelato le nomination della 40esima edizione, i cui vincitori saranno annunciati nel corso della cerimonia di premiazione dal vivo che si terrà sulla spiaggia di Santa Monica sabato 22 febbraio 2025, e che vedrà il ritorno come presentatore di Aidy Bryant. Lo show, che celebrerà le carriere dei registi emergenti, la creatività, la diversità, l’innovazione e l’unicità della visione del cinema e della televisione indipendenti, sarà trasmesso in streaming live sui canali YouTube di IMDb e Film Independent e su altre piattaforme social.
“Da quando abbiamo tenuto la nostra prima cerimonia nel 1985 in un ristorante a La Cienega fino allo spettacolo dell’anno scorso, quando gli spettatori da tutto il mondo si sono uniti a noi a Santa Monica Beach per celebrare il lavoro di così tanti artisti, Film Independent ha continuato a supportare i cineasti indipendenti e a consentire loro di realizzare la loro visione in ogni fase della loro carriera”, ha affermato Josh Welsh, Presidente di Film Independent. “Come per i leggendari artisti di quell’evento inaugurale e per gli innumerevoli altri con cui abbiamo avuto il privilegio di lavorare da allora, siamo entusiasti di onorare questo gruppo di creativi mentre continuano questa gloriosa eredità”.
Per quanto questa edizione, a guidare le nomine cinematografiche è Anora di Sean Baker, in lizza come miglior film, miglior regista, interpretazione principale per Mikey Madison e due come miglior interpretazione non protagonista per Yura Borisov e Karren Karagulian. Per la televisione invece, la serie da record vincitrice di un Emmy Shōgun di FX guida con cinque menzioni.
“L’ispirato gruppo di artisti nominati per lo Spirit Award di quest’anno mostra la natura essenziale dell’arte indipendente prodotta oggi”, ha affermato Brenda Robinson, Presidente del Consiglio di Amministrazione di Film Independent. “Attraverso la loro dedizione, il loro coraggio e le loro voci uniche hanno creato opere indelebili che saranno celebrate per gli anni a venire e siamo onorati di supportarli in questo viaggio”.
